The more I learn about Adele, the more I enjoy and adore her. This sultry plus-sized, soulful musician is more unique than her music shows. She is the epitome of what a musical idol should be; her own person, strong willed, and extremely talented but real.
Adele, like most musicians’ careers, is surrounded by several different types of distribution of their creative content (music). I focus on her creative content rather than her being a product because she has sternly said “I can’t be a product; no one can do that to me. I have all the say. I have power over everything I do" as she continues on with an example of how she controls it by saying "if you play up to it, it is hard work. This week, I want three days off, I tell them not to call me” (dailymail.co.uk).
Adele started in the music industry after a friend had placed a couple of her recordings onto Myspace.com, which is a more common instrument of distributing music and gaining a fan base; the larger fan base a musician/band gains on their own, the easier it will be for an agent and publishing company to want to distribute your music. Adele's tone, power and quality was quickly snatched up; it was after that demo was put onto Myspace.com, when Adele had gotten signed from the independent XL record label.
Although, the best thing about her, aside from talent, is that she does not get caught up in the limelight like so many other celebrities in the entertainment industry. She said the worst aspect of her job, aside from time from loved ones, is constantly being surrounded by drugs. Although many before her have gone down that path and found their way out eventually, Adele stated "I am an addictive personality: if I start something I don't stop... I know I would get onto other things and I don't want that" (dailymail.co.uk).
Adele is one of a kind, especially in the entertainment industry. No doubt does she have the soulful styling of an era in the past, mixed with a current twist. She does not let her career or the people in charge of it run her life nor does she allow herself to get caught up in it either. Her career has blossomed from internet exposure into a record contract shortly after her demo was distributed. I am curious to see where this incredible artist is going to allow her career to go from here.
